Well my son was sick all week last week and I was sick all week this week. But we’re feeling better now. And the big dirty snow piles are finally starting to melt away so I’m happy. I went out thrifting today and got a nice little haul. I’ll come up with some blog posts in the next week or so, I haven’t had much time since I spent the last couple weeks with a whiney sick kid demanding entertainment 24/7 and then I was pretty much useless being sick myself.
News & New in the Shop
I’m super excited because in the next few months I plan to really incorporate my art into the shop, selling upcycled vintage stuff, screen printed tees, and more. I’m also getting rid of the kids and mens sections to make room and so I can focus more on women’s. So today all of that will be going into the sale section and you’ll be able to snag it super cheap! I’ll be updating the blog and keeping you posted about all the original goodies I’ll be starting to sell and the process! 🙂
Janis Joplin at Home in San Fransisco
“I always wanted to be an artist, whatever that was, like other chicks want to be stewardesses. I read. I painted. I thought.” — Janis Joplin
Estate Sale Finds: I can bearly believe it!
I woke up at 6 yesterday morning (on a weekend!) to get to an out-of-town estate sale I didn’t think I’d be able to go to. I’m so glad I was able to make it – look what I got! It might freak you out.
Yes, that is a real 1930’s taxidermy vintage bear rug! I’ve always thought they were so cool! And they’re super hard to find.
1970’s Art & Fashion: All Eyes on You / Niki de Saint Phalle
I’m crazy about this necklace made by artist Niki de Saint Phalle in the early 70’s (featured here in Vogue Italia). It was made of 18k gold and came with matching earrings.
Etsy Finds Friday: Atomic Beasts
I stumbled upon this little gem of a shop the other day while browsing. Everything at Atomic Beasts is designed, screen printed, and sewn by the owner Leslie . Her shop has a super retro feel. I’ve taken a liking to Kewpie dolls so the first thing that drew me in was these flour sack towels.
New Logo!
Yesterday I had the idea to draw a new logo to use here and maybe in the shop too. So I went to work and ended up making and using this:

1960’s Fashion: Icon Francoise Hardy
“This is my favorite record album” Moonrise Kingdom, Wes Anderson, 2012
I can’t blame you, Suzy. Francoise Hardy’s music is great. I would best describe it as psychedelic chanteuse. But it’s more than that. And not only was her voice beautiful, she was also a major style icon. She was great looking, had awesome hair, and was basically the epitome of a chic french woman. She’s definately worth looking up to, big time.
Ten fantastic photos of Francoise Hardy in the 1960’s
